I always admired this man, for his commitment to the Labour Party and it’s values, his intelligence and compassion.

We will always smile when we remember the times spent with you at BBQ's , meals, playing Triv until the early hours, you will always be in our hearts.

Melvyn was a very thoughtful socialist and compassionate human being. Rest in Peace.

I shall miss my friend, Mel, dreadfully. We were friends since the early 1980s and we always made time for a coffee catch-up and worked for the Labour Party cause during all this time. Most recently we shared a room in Brighton at the Party Conference, which we attended with my son, Gareth and my daughter, Gemma. It was an excellent few days, even though we kept one another awake with our snoring. His devotion to his family, Leeds United and the Labour Party was unbounded. Melvyn was a lovely man and a loyal friend and he will be missed by all of us who respected and loved him in equal measure.

Melvyn you was an amazing comrade, always friendly welcoming and a man of immense knowledge. May you RIP. Mohammed Shahzad
